Clogged or Slow Drain?
Same-day drain cleaning for clogged, slow, or backed-up drains, diagnosed and fixed at the source instead of just cleared.
If your drain is clogged, slow, or backing up, it isn’t going to fix itself. What starts as a slow trickle can turn into a full blockage, water damage, or a sewer backup if it’s ignored long enough. Silverback Plumbing and Drain provides drain cleaning in San Antonio that fixes the root cause, not just the clog in front of you.
Common Drain Problems We Fix
We don’t just clear drains — we solve what’s causing them to clog in the first place.
Kitchen Drains
Clogged with grease and food buildup that hardens inside the pipe over time.
Bathroom Drains
Blocked by hair and soap residue in sinks, tubs, and showers.
Shower & Tub Drains
Draining slower each week until water starts pooling around your feet.
Multiple Drains at Once
Several fixtures backing up together usually points to one shared line, not five separate problems.
Sewer Line Blockages
Affecting the whole home, and usually the most serious of the five.
Drain Cleaning vs. Drain Repair: Which Do You Need?
This is where most plumbing sites leave you guessing. Here’s the actual breakdown:
| What You’re Seeing | What It Usually Needs |
|---|---|
| Minor clog or slow drain | Drain cleaning (snaking) |
| Clog keeps coming back | Camera inspection + cleaning |
| Pipe damage, collapse, or corrosion | Drain repair or replacement |
| Sewer line blockage or tree root intrusion | Hydro jetting or sewer repair |
Snaking vs. Hydro Jetting
Not all drain cleaning is the same job — we use whichever method actually fits the clog.
| Method | Best For | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Snaking | Hair, food waste, soap buildup, single-fixture clogs | A cable breaks through and pulls out the blockage |
| Hydro Jetting | Grease buildup, tree roots, recurring whole-line clogs | High-pressure water strips buildup off the full pipe wall |
Why Your Drains Keep Clogging
Most clogs come back because the actual cause was never addressed, just the symptom in front of you.Grease buildup in kitchen lines
Hair and soap buildup in bathrooms
Tree roots growing into sewer lines
Old or damaged pipe materials
Wipes or grease going down the drain
When You Should Call a Plumber
Don’t wait if you notice:
- Water backing up into sinks or tubs
- Multiple drains clogging at the same time
- Strong odors coming from a drain
- Slow drainage that keeps getting worse
These point to something deeper than a single clog. If it sounds like a sewer line issue, see our sewer line repair service.
Why Drain Cleaning Matters More in San Antonio
San Antonio’s hard water leaves mineral buildup inside pipes faster than it would in softer-water cities, and a lot of homes here still have original clay or cast-iron sewer lines that tree roots can work their way into over time. That combination is why professional drain cleaning tends to be routine maintenance here, not an occasional fix.

I was very happy with the job that David and Brendan from Silverback Plumbing & Drain performed on my toilet. They were able to come out to my house within a day of my phone call, which was wonderful. They replaced the seal in my toilet tank quickly and showed me how my old seal had bumps on it (causing it not to seal properly anymore). Additionally, they fixed the chain that connected to the handle for free after I explained that sometimes the handle doesn’t flush properly. I also was satisfied with the price that I was charged for replacing the seal in my tank. David informed me that I should contact SAWS to let them know that I had the seal in my tank repaired in order to possibly get them to reimburse me some money (if the most recent bill that I had was higher than my previous bills). David and Brendan were very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. If you need to have a plumbing job done, don’t hesitate to use Silverback Plumbing & Drain!Posted on Google![]()

We had a great experience with Silverback Plumbing! Brian and Brendon recently replaced our water heater and repaired a leaky tub faucet, and they did an outstanding job from start to finish. Both of them were professional, friendly, and took the time to explain everything clearly before and after the work was completed. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and left the area spotless when they were finished. It's refreshing to work with technicians who truly care about the quality of their work and customer service. Silverback Plumbing has earned our trust with their reliability, honesty, and excellent workmanship. We highly recommend Silverback Plumbing, and a special thank you to Brian and Brendon for providing such exceptional service. We will definitely call them again for any future plumbing needs!Posted on Google![]()

Frequently Asked Questions
A single slow drain is usually worth trying yourself first — a plunger or a mix of hot water, baking soda, and vinegar handles most minor clogs. If that doesn’t clear it after a try or two, or if more than one drain is affected, it’s time to call. Repeated chemical drain cleaner use can damage older pipes.
Snaking uses a cable to physically break through and pull out a clog — fast, and effective for hair, food, and soap buildup. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to strip buildup off the entire inside of the pipe, which is what it takes for grease buildup, tree roots, or a clog that keeps returning after snaking.
Most homes do fine with professional drain cleaning every one to two years. If you have older cast-iron or clay pipes, mature trees near your sewer line, or a history of grease clogs, annual service is usually the better call.
Occasional use on a minor clog is usually fine. Used repeatedly, the chemicals in most store-bought cleaners can corrode older pipes and seals, turning a clog into a leak.
Cost depends on the method and how deep the blockage is — a simple snaking job runs less than hydro jetting a full sewer line. We diagnose the clog first and give you the price before any work starts, so you’re not guessing.
Yes, especially in older San Antonio neighborhoods with mature trees and clay or cast-iron sewer lines. Roots work their way into small cracks or joints in search of water, and once inside, they grow and catch debris until the line backs up.
A clogged drain won't fix itself, and waiting almost always makes it worse.
Silverback Plumbing & Drain provides licensed plumbing and drain service for homes and businesses throughout the San Antonio area. From emergency repairs to routine maintenance, we diagnose the problem, explain the fix, and get it done right the first time.
